"Home and Away" is a very successful Australian Soap Opera. It's number one competition is Neighbours. Home And Away debuted on Australian screens on the 17th January 1988 on Channel 7, a station which Neighbours once aired on. Neighbours and H&A are the 2 longest running Australian soaps of all time. As of August 2022, H&A has taken the crown as the longest running Australian soap still in production, after Neighbours ended at the end of July 2022.

So far, a staggering 240 actors from Neighbours have appeared in H&A, either in guest or regular roles. Some of the most memorable Neighbours actors who went into H&A and vice versa is Guy Pearce, Craig McLachlan and Andrew James Morley, and now Debra Lawrance.

There are probably many more yet to be discovered who had roles in both shows. And with both veteran shows still going, no doubt more actors who have not yet appeared in both of them will do so in the future. Never say never to someone like Jeff KovskiRobert Forza or Peter O'Brien landing a H&A role in the future. Stefan Dennis once said in an interview that he would never rule out quitting Neighbours for H&A.

Kevin Summers says in 2000 he lost out on a role in H&A at the same time he lost out to the role of Joe Scully in Neighbours. Jackie Woodburne had auditioned for the role of Pippa Ross in H&A in 1987 but lost out to Vanessa Downing and again in 1990 to Debra Lawrence when Pippa was recast. Dan Falzon once said it was between him and Dieter Brummer for the role of Shane Parrish in H&A but Dan lost out to Dieter. Rob Mills said he was up for a role in H&A but lost out to good friend Jake Ryan.
